I quickly want to take note of, and elaborate further on a comment my friend K. made while visiting home from Japan. During a visit to a staple restaurant from our youth, he made a comment which resonates with me years later. “God creates. God creates all things. To be made in the image of God means to create like God does.” He went on to tell me about his dream of growing his own food, constructing his own furniture, and building as much of his life as possible with his own hands. I admire K. and value his wisdom because he is a man, it seems, that has taken his life into his own hands. He lives where he wants, works where he wants, and got married to a lovely and caring woman while living in Japan. He is creating a beautiful life. Isn’t it about time I followed suit?
